Lionel 1666 locomotive with special rubber stamped on the underside of 
the cab roof.  J. Polidora Collection. Why did Lionel apply this stamp 
to the locomotive?  Was this part of a special outfit?

This is the box label for a rare promotional outfit 7118WC with the 
intriguing suffix WC.  B. Faust Collection.  Promotional outfits did not 
appear in the consumer catalogue. What did WC stand for?

Most likely W represented whistle in the tender.  The outfit contains a 
2689WX tender. See the box end flap of 2689WX tender where W stood for 

Most likely C represented the 88 controller. The box contained the 88
controller which may have controlled the action of the 3659 dump car.

Collection.  What did the F stand for?

The F stood for the No. 145 Flagman.

The outfit contained 1045 Flagman and the box for the Flagman. The box 
label for the Flagman.
